About
&Capital was established in 2023 as a fund dedicated to pioneering a new investment model that enables Africa and Japan to prosper together and generate social impact.
Through direct investments in early- and growth-stage African companies and investments in impact funds, we provide hands-on support that not only facilitates access to capital but also fosters partnerships and collaboration between African startups and Japanese companies with the technologies and expertise to address those challenges, thereby achieving both scaling up and the resolution of social issues simultaneously.
Furthermore, to increase the number of Japanese professionals deeply engaged with Africa’s business and investment environment, we actively provide opportunities for hands-on experience through secondments and study sessions.
By connecting capital, expertise, and talent, we will create an environment where Africa's challenges are transformed into greater opportunities, thereby passing on sustainable growth and well-being to the next generation.
Pan-African Network
Through partnerships with funds that have strengths across East, West, Central, and Southern Africa, as well as with the AfDB, we can efficiently provide information and networks targeting the entire African continent.
Collaboration with Japanese Companies Possessing Technology and Ideas
Through partnerships and collaborations between African startups facing business challenges and Japanese companies possessing the technologies and ideas to solve them, we provide hands-on support that simultaneously achieves scale-up and the resolution of social issues.
Exit-Oriented Investment
Since our LPs consist of operating companies with a strong interest in African business, exit opportunities can be explored across a wide range of sectors. In addition to business synergies for both parties, we place a strong emphasis on the transfer of the business's social impact.
Co-creation of Impact Assessment
We integrate impact measurement frameworks as a driver of value creation. Key impact metrics will be developed and utilized jointly by &Capital and the portfolio companies as KPIs for monitoring and creating corporate value.
